Discounts, giveaways and free museums…oh my!
Philadelphia is rolling out the red carpet to welcome (back) college students to the City!
College Day provides students with discounts in Manayunk, Center City, South Street and University City to help you explore the City and the places you have been dying to get off campus to try – without breaking your (parent’s) bank. Plus, there will be seven museums open just for you – free of charge. Visit one (or all seven) and get brownie points for your Art History class.
No concert this year, but there are over 100 other reasons (discounts and freebies) for you to get off campus.
All you need is your college ID and your Campus Philly Discount Card.
Visit campusphilly.org/collegeday to plan your College Day itinerary!

For the record: I Want to Ride My Bicycle, Bicycle, Bicycle.
We all know about the annual summer craziness that is the Manayunk Bike Race. But on Sept. 13, TD Bank presents the car-free certified Bike Philly 2009, one of the most enticing cycling events to roll through Philly for the third year in a row.
Thanks to The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, bikers can enjoy the sights of the Parkway, Strawberry Mansion, Overbrook, Narberth and even the Main Line on loops of 10, 20, 35 and 50 miles--the 10 and 20 miles loops being car-free.
The chance to ride through Philly without the annoying (and sometimes dangerous) presence of cars is a rare one. This day of car-free, carefree biking supports the Bicycle Coalition's work to make bike riding better in Southeastern Pennsylvania, South Jersey and Delaware.
Late and day-of registration is still available online for students for only $20! The only down side is there are no more of those sweet "I Bike PHL" t-shirts left.
By biking this Sunday, you can help raise money for the Bicycle Coalition's charity partners, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Alzheimer's Association and the American Cancer Society.
If you just can’t wait until Sunday to get your bike on, there is also the 13th Annual Scenic Schuylkill Century taking place on Saturday, Sept. 12. This bike route takes riders along some of the most beautiful and quiet roads of the greater Philadelphia area.
Still cycling crazed? Check out Brittany McLeod’s blog on the bike lane improvements in Center City, complete with a nod to this weekend’s Bike Philly.
PS: I hope you all got that Queen reference in the title.
