For the record: Penn’s International Student and Scholar Reception
Ripping yourself from your comfort zone and flying away to another country is just the rebellious, adventurous spirit that every student should embody during their collegiate career. No, I don’t mean Spring Break in Cancun. Getting involved in a study abroad program is a must! I studied in London the fall semester of my junior year and I consider it to be the best decision I made during my four undergrad years.
Many college students have the travel bug before they even enter the hallowed halls of their university. But how often do we stop and think of all those students in the countries we want to study in who are thinking the same way about the States?
Tomorrow, Oct. 9, the University of Pennsylvania will host the International Student Welcome Reception, a special event sponsored by more than 50 colleges, universities and programs to welcome new international students and scholars to the Delaware Valley.
This welcome reception is a great opportunity for college and university international students to meet each other and learn about resources for multicultural education.
If you are not an international student, you should still attend! This is also a great networking event; you might meet someone from the country you are considering studying abroad in and can chat them up about what you can expect when you become an international student yourself.
The free event runs from 5-7 p.m. in the Chinese Rotunda of Penn’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.
For more information about how you can study abroad, visit your school’s international programs office.
