For the record: Summertime and the Livin’ is Easy

Howdy, folks!

Cara D. here, former Campus Philly entertainment editor and your new editor-in-chief! After a semester away, it’s great to be back at 1515 Market Street while I finish my master’s degree in Writing Studies at Saint Joseph’s University.

Campus Philly will be sizzling this summer with a bunch of brand new blogs, including a new column by Jake Verterano called “Summer Survival.” As a student, I am so thankful for the down time of May through August (mainly because I can catch up on my sleep). But by the time July rolls around, I start wishing I had something to keep me occupied. Each week, Jake will be sharing a top 10 list of fun and interesting suggestions to fill your lazy days of summer.

So while you’re tanning on the beach or taking that cross-country road trip, pull up campusphilly.org on your iPhones and Blackberries. Please make campusphilly.org a hyperlink

And to the few hearty souls out there who are brave enough to take summer classes, don’t work too hard! Remember what this season’s about—good sun and lots of fun!

- Cara Donaldson, , St. Joseph’s '08

Philadelphia Cares About Fairmount Park Day 2009
Saturday, May 16th

On May 16th, join Greater Philadelphia Cares, the Fairmount Park Commission, and more than 1000 volunteers for Philadelphia Cares About Fairmount Park Day. Over 40 projects will take place at locations throughout the city, from the Northeast to South Philadelphia - and everywhere in between. In just a few short hours, this rain-or-shine event will help keep Fairmount Park clean and green for generations to come. From Pennypack Park in the Northeast to Morris Park in West Philadelphia, volunteers will battle invasive weeds & vines, paint benches, plant trees and pick up trash, beautifying the public park spaces we all know and love so well.
