Grads: Campus Philly’s Opportunity Fair is Less Than 2 Weeks Away!

Recent graduates and young alumni: Connect to jobs, professional level internships, graduate school opportunities, and professional contacts at Campus Philly’s Opportunity Fair. The event will include a career expo, a graduate studies fair, educational seminars and networking sessions with industry professionals. The fair is produced with support from the City of Philadelphia, twenty colleges and university partners, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation

The fair takes place June 16th from 12-4pm at Saint Joseph’s University’s James J. Maguire ‘58 Campus. You can still pre-register! Visit www.campusphilly.org/careers for more information.

For the record: Another Brick in the Wall

Philadelphians are used to the annual Philadelphia International Cycling Championship (PICC) hitting walls—the Manayunk Wall, that is. The 156-mile classic remains the longest running and most important single-day cycling road race in the United States, with the steep half-mile “wall” being the ideal spot for race watchers. But this year, the PICC (or the Manayunk Bike Race, as it is locally called) was in danger of hitting another kind of wall—cancellation.

With the economy in a terrifying state and the city’s budget looking horrendous, the long standing tradition was in jeopardy. But the tenacity of our Mayor Nutter and Governor Rendell is legendary. Through the last minute Embrace the Race campaign, the city raised enough money through sponsors and donations to keep the race alive for a 25th year.

As a long time resident of “the ‘Borough,” I can’t imagine a summer without the Bike Race. So come join the hundreds of honorary Yunkers all day Sunday, June 7. The forecast is calling for clear skies and contrary to rumor, I promise you’ll see the cyclists whiz by in all their glory…at least once.
