That’s right--Campus Philly is hosting its second annual Alternative Spring Break the week of March 1-6 and March 8-13. Alternate Spring Break is a free week-long opportunity where you can work during the day volunteering throughout the Philadelphia area and exploring the cultural aspects of Philly at night.

Healthy African-Americans or Caucasians, age 18 – 45, who don’t use tobacco, may be eligible for a University of Pennsylvania research study of risks for cardiovascular disease. Volunteers are needed for a study evaluating effects of genes on responses to two different drugs. Three outpatient and two inpatient (2 nights and 1 day each) visits at the hospital are required.
Qualified participants are paid $1,200 for completing the study and receive study examinations at no cost. Contact genstudy@mail.med.upenn.edu.

The Mayor’s Internship Program is a nine-week summer internship for current college undergraduates beginning on June 8, 2009. Be a part of Campus Philly’s second annual Alternative Spring Break! During the weeks of March 1-6 and March 8-13, spend time serving the Philadelphia community, while experiencing the City with other students. During the day, you’ll participate in service projects covering social issues like the arts and education.
Each day of service will be followed by an evening of Philadelphia exploration. Visits to historic sites, vibrant and unique neighborhoods, and galleries and museums will be a few of the activities during this week of learning, serving, and loving Philadelphia.
