FOR
THE RECORD: Show Your Inner Pride
As July 4th approaches, it is the time of year to realize what it means
to be American. For some, American pride is visual- waiving a flag on
their front lawn, car, shop or store. Others wear pride in a pin, necklace
or tie. Is this truly what carrying American pride means?
Being American is not a show or contest of who has the biggest flag. It
is an inner belief that shines out in actions. Over 200 years ago, as
we fought for our independence, it was said that all men are created equal;
therefore shouldn’t being American be in our actions of fairness
and equality?
It is easy during the 4th of July season to count over 100 flags waiving
high, but there are hundreds of gestures each moment displaying the inner
American. American means being appreciative of what you have, taking nothing
for granted. Lucky for us, we are standing where America became America,
in the City of Brotherly Love. Take nothing for granted today and all
year round. Show your inner American during all of the upcoming events
and “Celebrate America!”
