FOR THE RECORD: Wing Bowl 16—It's Back!

While most are getting out their jerseys and preparing for the game of the year this Sunday afternoon, Philly has another event to tackle (pun intended) first.

This Saturday, the 16th annual Wing Bowl will return, with all the food you can handle (and then some). Competitors have auditioned and the top thirty will move on in the annual competition, presented by Sports Radio 610 WIP.

While some may find the event a little untasteful, there will be thousands of people who disagree. You thought you felt pressured giving a presentation in front of class? Well, try eating as many hot wings as you can handle, while in the presence of approximately 20,000 people. That's pressure—and one messy good time!

Lastly, let's not forget the be all, end all (of this season) football game. The undefeated New England Patriots will take on the New York Giants. Sorry, Eagles' fans—but here's to next season!

“Focus the Nation” is a two-day event hosted by the Fox Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania in the Ben Franklin Room in Houston Hall. The first day will be a teach-in to combat the issue of climate change and global warming.The following day will be a gallery reception.


Saturday, February 2
Good Night, States
Pittsburgh natives Good Night, States have a polished indie-rock sound that's soft and vocal-centric, but not afraid to explore different textures, including keyboards, twisty synths, twangy guitars and horns. Also playing are The Codes, Feathertops, and Murderhouse.

Villanova vs. Syracuse
The Wildcats welcome the Orange in a pivotal Big East men's game that will have important postseason implications.


Sunday, February 3
Tales from the Exotic
Exotic tales from the East have fired the imagination of poets and musicians since the days of the Spice Trade. Hear the wonderful colors that emerge when east meets west in this alluring concert of songs. Artists include Youngjoo An, Christopher Bolduc, Suzanne DuPlantis, Jeffrey Halili, Jennifer Hsiung, Randi Marrazzo and Elizabeth Weigle with Laura Ward at the piano.

A Memorial for Steve Keller
In memorial of local musician, Steve Keller, who passed away last December, R5 Productions presents a memorial for Keller, with all benefits going towards his family. Performers include Kyp Malone (of TV On The Radio), Quentin Stoltzfus (of Mazarin), Drew Mills (of Blood Feathers), Scott Vittorelli (of Asteroid #4) and Gerard Angelini (of Gildon Works).

The Philadelphia Auto Show
The Philadephia Auto Show is coming to town, and companies from Ford and Toyota to Lotus and Rolls Royce will be showing their new line of vehicles. From concepts to environmentally-friendly automobiles, everyone will have something that catches their eye.


Wednesday, February 6
Ted Alexandro
Teacher-turned-comedian Ted Alexandro, who has performed on "Comedy Central Presents," (twice) "Late Night with Conan O' Brien" and "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn," will perform his stand-up.

Africa Unite
In honor of Bob Marley's 60th birthday, the World Cafe Live and The Philadelphia Foundation for World Music and Arts present Africa Unite, an 86-minute documentary by Stephanie Black, portraying footage of Marley. After checking out the movie, make sure to stop by and listen to the sounds of Solomonic Sound System DJing upstairs.

Thursday, February 7
Rosematter
Emo pop-rockers, Rosematter, will be headlining in support of their latest release; Desoto Jones, One False Move and Out of Reach will also be performing.
