FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK

FOR THE RECORD: And Then There were Two...

On Saturday, June 7, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton ended her campaign for the presidency. Clinton stood before her loyal fans and delivered what many claim to be her best speech to date.

And then there were two…

After months of grueling Democratic debates and controversy, Senator Barack Obama joins the dueling race against Republican nominee, Senator John McCain.

It has come the time to stop focusing on the Democratic Party and history-making debates involving a black man and a woman. 2008 is not just a year for making history, but is also one of the most crucial elections ever! Identify your candidates for who they are, not what they are.

Knowing the two candidates for presidency is vital. It is important to make a decision based on values, campaigns, policies and views.

Throughout the summer there will be campaign trails and debates aired across the country. Be sure to listen to what each candidate has to say, have an open mind and most of all do not be afraid to ask hard questions of the man who will in turn have your well-being—and that of much of the world-- in his hands.

Win 2 tickets to see "Souvenir" at the Wilma Theater!

For more than half a century, the name Florence Foster Jenkins has been guaranteed to produce explosions of derisive laughter.  Not unreasonably so, as this wealthy society eccentric suffered under the delusion that she was a great coloratura soprano when she was in fact incapable of producing two consecutive notes in tune.  Nevertheless, her annual recitals in the ballroom of the Ritz Carlton hotel, where she resided, brought her extraordinary fame.  As news of her terrible singing spread, so did her celebrity.

The Media Theatre’s production of "Souvenir" by Stephen Temperly and directed by Jesse Cline is onstage at The Wilma Theater June 17 – 29.  Enter to win 2 tickets to see "Souvenir" on June 24, 25, 26, or 27. Email brittany@campusphilly.org to enter and win by June 18, 2008. For more info., visit the Wilma Theater's website at http://www.wilmatheater.org or call the Box Office at 215.546.7824.
