PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO THE FORECASTED INCLEMENT WEATHER, CAMPUS PHILLY'S MULTICULTURAL MEET & MINGLE ON ICE HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 24, SAME TIME AND LOCATION.
One of the outdoor events made for winter is ice skating, and what can make ice skating even cooler and more Philly than Campus Philly!
On Feb. 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Campus Philly will host the Multicultural Meet & Mingle on Ice
at the Blue Cross RiverRink (531 North Columbus Boulevard) that will bridge differing cultural groups through fun in Philadelphia.
It does not matter if you are a great skater who can gracefully glide with leaps and perfect spins or someone who can barely trudge along while hugging the wall of the skating rink, because there will be tons to do and plenty of people to talk to.
“Most of all, students from across the region have the opportunity to mingle with other students from different cultural backgrounds,” said Brittany Sturges, Associate for Engagement Programs at Campus Philly.
This is a great event for any college students who wants to escape their campus, throw on their skates and have a great time.
Skating admission costs $6 with your Campus Philly discount card but without it, you can expect to play $8 for admission, $3 for renting skates and $10 for parking. If you decide not to drive, the skating rink is very SEPTA accessible by bus and train and the Blue Cross RiverRink website provides routes and instructions to get to the rink by foot, public transportation or car.
Food and beverages will be available through the Blue Cross RiverRink’s concession stands and Campus Philly will hold a free raffle where you can win a Pizza Rustica or The Gold Standard Cafe gift certificate.
The wild FM radio station Wired 96.5 will also be at the skating rink with fun games and giveaways.
If you have ever wanted to meet or learn more about people who come from different walks of life, the "Multicultural Meet & Mingle on Ice” is your night. The groups present at the event will be the African Cultural Alliance North of America (ACANA), the Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations of Philadelphia (Concillio) and, of course, Campus Philly.
However, the fellow college students who are skating and having fun provide the best opportunities to meet someone new. You never know--an undergrad student you bump into can be from Drexel or Cheney or even a student who calls Kenya or Russia home.
